Wawel Castle
You can find tons of information on Wawel Castle online, so I won’t go into its history in any detail. We will definitely spend some time here, though. As you know, Kraków used to be the capital of the country before moving to Warsaw several hundred years ago. When it was still the seat of government, Wawel Castle was the home to Polish royalty. It is known not only from a historic point of view, but also because it houses Polish treasures as well as a crypt. Here, you can see world famous Flemish tapestries, the tombs of Polish dignitaries and artists (ex. Adam Mickiewicz). It’s where the coffin of the former Biship of Krakow, St. Stanislaus can be found. Also, as I mentioned the other day, it is where da Vinci’s “Lady with an Ermine” is temporarily housed.
